Soumak Rugs are the product of a historic technique that's older than traditional piled carpet weaving. The weavers work by wrapping each weft over four warps, then pulling the wefts back through first two warps, and on and on until a textile is formed. No knots are tied in the process which makes the textile that much stronger. With this technique comes great durability that will last in even the most high traffic areas. Soumak Rugs are unique in that they are reversible, one side is fine tuned and vibrant while the other has more of a rustic feel. Which will you choose? :)
Shedding is normal and will diminish with regular vacuuming; Loose fibers are common, clip with scissors; Any creases in rugs should disappear in a few days; Keep away from excessive moisture; Blot spills immediately with sponge or cloth, don't rub; Professional cleaning recommended as needed; Rugs in direct sunlight will fade over time, rotate your rug; Indoor use only; Appropriate rug pad is highly recommended on all surfaces to prevent slipping.
Note: This is an item we are liquidating for a fellow rug wholesaler-French Market Collection. This is part of a collection of handwoven soumaks that used to be wholesaled to Gumps, Pierre Deux and a couple of other upscale retailers that are no longer in business. These rugs have been sitting in storage for several years and should be vaccuumed, on both sides, before using.

"In Stock in New Orleans" product ships within 1-3 days. Shipping times will vary depending on where you live in the Continental US, but your order should arrive within 7 business days. Shipments to Alaska and Hawaii may take up to 10 business days. Please note that UPS generally does not deliver on weekends and holidays. FedEx generally does not deliver on Sundays and holidays.
"Inventory in India" orders generally processed within 1–3 business days (unless otherwise noted on the individual product page). "Made to Order Rugs from India" orders generally processed within 1–3 business days (unless otherwise noted on the individual product page). Shipping times will vary depending on the type of Custom Rug and how labor-intensive it is to make the custom rug. The time can vary from 3-6 months. Possibly sooner but we take an "Under Promise & Over Deliver" approach. Please note that UPS generally does not deliver on weekends and holidays. FedEx generally does not deliver on Sundays and holidays.
Shipping Notification & Tracking: When your purchase is complete and your order is prepared for shipment, you will receive an email with the order details and UPS tracking number.

Return & Refund Policy: We have a 7-day return policy, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a Banana Manor return & store credit.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
To start a return, you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as for instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues: Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on clearly marked non-returnable sale items or gift cards.
